Celebrations…
These women.
I spent the weekend in San Francisco celebrating a milestone birthday for a client. It was incredible to see the people in her life who showed up to love her all out.
When my friend Jon Pineda-Mayo died last year, I remember thinking at his memorial how sad it was that he wasn’t in the room to hear all the impactful things that people had to say about him.
I’m a firm believer in gathering those we love whenever we can. As a society, we have such an opportunity to celebrate MORE. I talk to so many women who say, “I don’t really know how to celebrate myself.”
There are two ways. First, call your friends. Make a plan. Get together. Allow others to see you, to share your brilliance. Practice saying, “Thank You.”
Second, learn how to acknowledge and own the great things that happen for you. In every group coaching program I lead, we begin with celebrations. Everyone is required to bring something to the group so she can be honored. Seen. Celebrated. Without apology.
What happens when women come together and allow themselves to be seen in the majesty of who they really are? They rise. They soar. Miraculous “coincidences” start to occur.
And lifelong friendships are forged.
These women are in their third group program together with me. They know themselves and each other on a deep level. They allow themselves to be authentically vulnerable. And- when it’s time to show up, they do so with joy.
This is what happens when women come together. We all rise.
What can you celebrate yourself for today? Who can you share this with? I dare you to allow yourself to be SEEN!!
