“This is clearly your zone of genius.”

The other day, I facilitated a team offsite for a tech startup. In the end, the CEO said, “Thank you so much. This is clearly your zone of genius. I can’t see how it could have gone any better.”

Honestly, I can see why she said that. In one day, the team bonded on a human level, practiced deeper communication, openly and vulnerably discussed their challenges and strengths as a company, and brainstormed about a stunning vision for the future. There were no tears yesterday, (even though I always bring tissues, just in case) but there was uproarious laughter and fun in the midst of some pretty significant work that will benefit the company for years to come.
